What kind of young animal?
Young animals differ more than adults do. A fledgling on the ground is fine; a nestling on the ground is not.
- RabbitCottontail. Often found when a nest is mown or a dog digs.
- BirdAny bird not yet flying well.
- SquirrelFallen from a nest or a felled tree.
- OpossumAlone, or found on or near a dead adult.
- DeerA fawn lying still in cover.
